PAGE SEVENTEEN
PANEL ONE: CARTER continues the spell even as BLISS’s spirits crawl up his body, threatening to engulf him.
CARTER:
Govi...dessounin..D-damballah…!
PANEL TWO: CARTER glances, panicked, into the mirror. TOMMY is there, holding up a lit candlestick.
PANEL THREE: TOMMY holds the candlestick up to his face, the shadows making him look like a ghost bent on vengeance, and he burns the hair he plucked in the candle flame.
PANEL FOUR: CARTER holds the doll over the candle.
—What you’ve just read is my original script; but the panels above tell a bit of a different story. Kyle Burles (kyohazard.com), the artist, had his own input about the visuals and the pacing, and he made great choices. This is what it means to collaborate; the sum really does end up greater than the individual parts! Working with Kyle means that I know the project is in safe hands!
